Auxiliary verbs (also called helping verbs) assist the main verb to create various verb forms like tenses, questions, and negatives.
1️⃣ Common Auxiliary Verbs
Auxiliary Verb | Use | Example |
---|---|---|
Be (am, is, are, was, were) | Form continuous tenses and passive voice | She is running. The cake was eaten. |
Have (has, have, had) | Form perfect tenses | They have finished. |
