📘 Comparatives (slower, more expensive)

Comparatives are used to compare two things.
They show a difference in degree (faster, taller, more expensive, etc.).


1️⃣ One-syllable adjectives → Add -er

Structure:
adjective + -er + than

Examples:

  • fast → faster
  • tall → taller
  • small → smaller

Example sentence:
She is taller than her brother.


2️⃣ One-syllable ending in vowel + consonant → Double the consonant and add -er

Examples:

  • big → bigger
  • hot → hotter
  • thin → thinner

3️⃣ Two-syllable adjectives ending in -y → Change -y to -ier

Examples:

  • happy → happier
  • busy → busier
  • easy → easier

4️⃣ Two or more syllables → Use more + adjective

Structure:
more + adjective + than

Examples:

  • more expensive
  • more interesting
  • more beautiful

Example sentence:
This car is more expensive than that one.
