We use "there is" and "there are" to talk about the existence of something in a place.


1️⃣ Structure

Form Use Example
There is Singular noun / uncountable There is a book on the table.
There are Plural nouns There are five chairs here.

2️⃣ Negative Form

Form Example
There is not (isn't) There isn't any milk.
There are not (aren't) There aren't any pencils.

3️⃣ Questions

Question Form Example
Is there...? Is there a bathroom?
Are there...? Are there any students?

4️⃣ Examples
